Towers of Ten

Students have been playing a game called Towers of Ten.  The idea of the game is to teach the children to learn many ways of making ten.  They are becoming familiar with the fact that there is always one more way to make a number than the number itself (eleven ways to make ten, seven ways to make six etc.)  This game, played with a partner teaches children even more ways to make ten using multiple addends.  Children built relationships between numbers such as realizing that 1+2+3+4=3+3+3+1.
