Journal Writing

The children are starting to write in more detail in their journal.  Jackson went on to write almost two pages in his journal.

Walking like a sloth!

As we were reading about North America, we read about sloths that live in the rain forests of Central America.  Did you know Central America is part of North America?  One of the children asked about the characteristics of a sloth and another child talked about how they moved really slowly, so the children walked REALLY slowly around the room!

Spanish Class - mariposa

Senora Shenigo had the children work on an activity with a mariposa.  The butterfly activity had the children using spanish words for body parts, colors and numbers.

Peek at the writing process - Spring Break Stories

The children wrote a first draft of their spring break stories.  In order to improve their writing, the children each read their story to a friend.  When reading their stories aloud, children can sometimes find words they have omitted or find ways to improve their stories.

Below you can see how children looked at book covers of various books.  They explored the illustrations, the font and the text used on the cover.

The children used the following papers to find some ways to improve their writing.  First comes revision and last is the editing checklist.

Here, Jamison used a dictionary to improve his spelling.

Here are some of the children's stories of Spring Break.
