Yo-yos and pyramids!

The children were working on making Pyramids as we had read about Egypt as part of our study of Africa.  Art teacher Mrs. Serpe's son Rex came to the classroom to talk to the children about his talent with the yo-yo. He took his yo-yo apart to show the children the ball bearing in the middle that makes his work so well.  He also told the children that it was him mom that taught him how to yo-yo.  In the background photos, you can see the children's pyramids on their desks!

Researching Africa

The children came up with the ideas for the web to help them write independently about Africa.  Writing coming soon!

Sasha's Mom is a Mystery Reader

William Wordsworth

After we read the poem, I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, the children painted a picture of the scene they thought the poet was describing in his poem.  They also wrote a mini critique about the poem.

Digital Stories

Greenland digital story by Sarah and Xander

Thank you to the Baker and Theodos Families!

The Baker family and the Theodos family were also very generous.  Mrs. Baker brought magic jelly beans, special sugar, grass and cups to school.  The children buried the magic beans in the cup of sugar, covered the sugar in grass and about 24 hours later, lollipops grew.  When the children finished this magic planting activity, the children assembled a special dessert provided by the Theodos family.  The ingredients were chocolate pudding, oreo dirt and gummy worms.  The children put the first two ingredients in their bowl and added some worms to their dirt.  It was a really fun afternoon!
