In this legend, the children learn about how Rainbow Crow saved all of the animals by bringing the gift of fire from the Sky Spirit and melting the snow, but as a result of traveling so far carrying a burning stick, his once beautiful voice became hoarse and his feathers turned black. Great Sky Spirit's gift to Rainbow Crow was his freedom.
